This position will assist with transportation of members, community groups and teams to and from club events, programs, and activities. Transportation is provided across Newport and South County during summer months. Applicants need to be able to ensure conduct, safety, and Club policies.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to development of youth between 5 and 18 years
    of age.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent or two years of driver experience.
  • Must hold valid chauffeur’s (van) or CDL passenger endorsement (bus).
  • Ability to work on a team, relate and work well with others with ability to accept guidance, direction and supervision.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications desirable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive van or bus
    • Responsible for vehicle safety checks, odometer readings, attendance sheets and other required paperwork.
    • Responsible for the safety of all passengers, staff members, guests and other adults.
    • Responsible for ensuring vehicle maintains a minimum of ¼ tank of gas.
  • Assist in the routine maintenance of the vehicles.
    • Ensuring vehicles are clean and in good working condition.
    • Make minor repairs as needed
  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines, including local, state and federal guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.
    • Assist with emergencies on physical plant and site.
    • Assist in conducting initial and end-of-season inventory.
    • Follow schedule for checking equipment for safety, cleanliness and good repair.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify safety hazards and monitor guest and staff behavior and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend and stretch.
  • Ability to lift, up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds may be required.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist members in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness or injury).

Terms of Employment:

Part time hours based on schedule and need of staffing. Hourly rate of pay ranging from $15 to $20/Hr. Based on experience and qualifications. Terms of employment will be agreed upon hiring of position.

Job Requirements

  • Must be currently lifeguard certified.
  • Passion/background in swimming is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pool systems, tools and water treatment a plus.

The Finance Director has overall responsibility for management of the financial aspects of BGCN. This includes financial reporting on a timely basis, maintaining financial relationships,cash management, budget development, oversight of retirement plans, coordination of annual audit, payroll, tax returns and governmental or regulatory reporting.

This individual will provide insight and recommendations to grow BGC in order to enhance our revenue and decrease our expenses and will work closely with our senior team, Board and Board Committees, reporting to the Executive Director.

Job Description & Duties:

Oversees overall daily operations of the Boys & Girls Clubs financial functions.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Responsible for oversight of day-to-day finance and accounting operations (including
general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, credit card expense
reporting, endowments, payroll processing, vacation accruals and monthly
reconciliations) to ensure timely and accurate financial information with appropriate
procedures and internal controls.
• Responsible for day to day oversight of banking relationships and cash management
• Work with senior team to create budgets for each program and functional area as well
as organization-wide budget. Monitor variances.
• Establish and implement financial policies and procedures ensuring compliance with
GAAP
• Preparation and analysis of financial reports, develop reporting system for accurate, real
time data for all budgets and particularly restricted accounts
• Prepare cash flow projections
• Work closely with Development team to monitor and report on all grants, charitable
giving and restricted funds; Alignment of reporting
• Maintain payroll and personnel records and reporting (HR and benefits)
• Investments – Provide oversight and recommendations with Finance Committee and
board for all BGC investments
• Audit preparation and management – work with auditors and staff of BGC to prepare for
and reconcile audit
• Chart of Accounts – enhance to align with our current program offerings and coordinate
with MTS (Membership Tracking System) and QuickBooks
• Other duties as assigned

This position will be full-time, 40 hours per week. This will be a key member of the senior team, which includes the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director and Director of Development. The Finance Director works closely with colleagues to develop and execute strategic initiatives to enable BGC to fulfill its mission and grow.

Under the direction of the Operations Director, assist in the maintenance and repair of the Club’s buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment and other facilities consistent with the mission and established policies and procedures of the organization.

Job Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent or two years of experience in a facility and site maintenance, construction, or grounds keeping business.
  • Valid and current driving license, chauffeur’s license preferred.
  • Ability to work on a team, relate and work well with others.

  • Proficiency in the safe and proper use of power equipment and tools, heavy and light machinery, and building materials

  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) License preferred, training can be provided.
  • Pool operations experience (chemical balancing, backwashing, ECT) preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Maintain grounds, handling equipment such as mower, tractor, chain saws, etc., in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on club facilities, equipment, and grounds, including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks.
  • Perform janitorial and general maintenance duties such as sweeping, scrubbing, waxing floors, washing windows and screens, putting up and taking down screens and storm windows, cleaning bathrooms, and assisting with cleaning dining hall.
  • Dispose of trash and waste and manage recycling
  • Assist in conducting initial and end of season inventories.
  • Store equipment safely.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs, ensuring compliance with BGCA, OSHA, ACA and all other regulatory safety standards.
  • Support the Facilities Manager and Operations Director in managing vendors and contractors for larger repairs or maintenance projects.
  • Maintain Safety Equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, first aid kits, smoke and CO detectors, emergency lighting) and ensure they are in good working order
  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines, including local, state and federal as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment for programs, events and club activities.
  • Respond to immediate facility issues or emergencies such as spills, broken equipment and weather-related concerns.
  • ​​​Support logistics for Club programs and events, including moving furniture, setting up rooms, and transporting supplies.​​

Job Responsibilities
  • Open and close building, monitor all guests entering and exiting building (sign in and badges required)
  • Collate and distribute paperwork for all club programs and services. Maintain adequate supply of all forms
  • Generate weekly DHS Report to include attendance, projected payments and potential enrollments
  • Process and enter membership data into the Vision Computer Tracking database in a timely manner, learn the system and be able to train others
  • Maintain orderly and clean work space at the Front Desk
  • Send monthly statements where appropriate
  • Receive and record payments for memberships, program enrollment, and other fee based activities and with responsibility of all Club deposits
  • Answer telephone, take messages and route telephone calls to proper individuals

Youth development staff are responsible for being a positive role model at The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County. This Program Staff’s primary responsibility is to help oversee a classroom (pod) of members. This individual will report directly to the Director of Childcare and Camp to ensure a positive, supportive and productive environment for all youth.

Job Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to development of youth between 5 and 14 years of age;
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written are required;
  • Positive role model for members;
  • Report properly attired and on time to work;
  • Additional training will be provided post-hire;
  • According to state law, the Boys & Girls Club must conduct a criminal records check by the Bureau of Criminal Identification of the Department of Attorney General of the State of Rhode Island.
