SCHOOL-YEAR POSITIONS
 
YOUTH COUNSELORS – NEWPORT HEIGHTS AND OXBOW FARMS EXTENSION SITES
Part-time (10-20 hours per week)
 
Position Description:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County is seeking Youth Counselors. Qualified candidates would be required to assist with planning and implementing all programs and activities at our Newport Heights and Oxbow Farms extension sites for target age group of 8-12 year olds. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate a positive role model image that would ensure conduct, safety, and development of members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
_ promote and stimulate program participation;
_ register new members and participate in their club orientation process;
_ provide guidance and role modeling to members
Health and Safety; Resource Management
2. Assist in ensuring that all health, safety and maintenance concerns for site are maintained at all times (including helping to clean up at end of the day).
Program Development and Implementation
3. Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
4. Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May participate in special programs and/or events.
2. May be required to drive Club van.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in working with children.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Valid State Drivers License
•Criminal Background check required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Standing, running, lifting, some manual labor, active.
